Application of Hexagonal Magnesium Hydroxide in Rubber and Flame Retardant Materials

Hexagonal magnesium hydroxide has a regular crystal structure, high thermal stability, and good dispersibility. Unlike ordinary magnesium hydroxide, it can balance flame retardant effect and material mechanical properties under high filling, and is widely used in the fields of rubber and flame retardant materials.


1、 Application in rubber

Hexagonal magnesium hydroxide is compatible with various rubber and elastomer materials such as silicone, TPE/TPU, and is commonly used in flame-retardant rubber hoses, seals, automotive rubber accessories, cable rubber insulation layers, and other products.

Its sheet-like structure is evenly dispersed and not easily agglomerated, which can effectively enhance the wear resistance, aging resistance, and dimensional stability of rubber products, and solve the problems of material brittleness and strength reduction caused by high filling of ordinary magnesium hydroxide. At the same time, it has excellent high-temperature processing resistance, no decomposition, no whitening, and no precipitation during vulcanization and extrusion processes. The finished product has a good appearance and sufficient toughness, and has the environmental advantages of halogen-free, low smoke, and flame retardant.


2、 Application in flame retardant materials

As a halogen-free flame retardant filler, hexagonal magnesium hydroxide is the core raw material for low smoke halogen-free cable materials, cable materials, flame retardant boards, and foamed flame retardant materials.

Good flame retardant and smoke suppression effect, excellent thermal stability, and good compatibility. Compared with ordinary magnesium hydroxide, it has higher purity, lower impurities, and stronger process stability.
