1. Solubility: Extremely slightly soluble in water, nearly insoluble in ethanol; soluble in dilute acids and ammonium salt solutions

2. Aqueous Solution Acidity and Alkalinity: Its suspension is weakly alkaline

3. Hygroscopicity: Low moisture absorption, stable in dry environment at normal temperature

4. Thermal Conductivity: Average thermal conductivity, excellent thermal insulation and flame retardant performance

III. Chemical Properties

1. Prone to thermal decomposition; produces magnesium oxide and water at high temperatures with heat absorption and flame retardant effects

2. Weak alkalinity with mild alkaline properties

3. Capable of neutralization reactions with strong acids

4. Chemically stable at normal temperature

Applications:

1. Plastics and Rubbers: Environmentally friendly halogen-free flame retardant with rapid smoke suppression effect, also serving as a filler to improve product performance and reduce costs.

2. Chemical Dyes: Used as reaction auxiliaries and synthetic intermediates, as well as acid-base neutralizers.

3. Petroleum Industry: Manufactures refining catalysts to facilitate the processing and purification of oil products.

4. Environmental Protection Field: Adsorbs harmful substances in waste gas and wastewater to purify pollutants.

5. Water Treatment: Applied in seawater desalination to assist water quality purification.
