I. Basic Information

Chemical Formula: MgO

Appearance: White powder, odourless and tasteless

II. Physical Properties

1. Extremely high melting point with excellent high-temperature resistance and fire resistance

2. Slightly soluble in ethanol, sparingly soluble in water, readily soluble in acids

3. Possesses favourable electrical insulation, thermal conductivity and moisture absorption capacity

4. Higher activity corresponds to stronger reactivity and adsorption capacity

III. Chemical Properties

1. A typical basic oxide capable of neutralizing acidic substances

2. Reacts slowly with water to produce magnesium hydroxide

3. Stable chemical properties with resistance to acid, alkali and corrosion

4. Stable structure at high temperatures and resistant to decomposition

Applications:

- Rubber and plastic products: Special vulcanizing agent, acid absorber and heat-resistant reinforcing agent for neoprene rubber, nitrile rubber and silica gel; accelerates vulcanization rate and improves the ageing resistance, tensile resistance and weather resistance of finished products.

- Chemical additives: Adsorbent for acidic gases and acid-base neutralizer for wastewater; applied in flue gas desulfurization and sewage treatment to remove acidic substances and heavy metal ions.

- Building material flame retardants: Halogen-free eco-friendly flame retardant filler for fireproof boards, flame-retardant plastics and thermal insulation refractory materials, featuring heat insulation, smoke suppression and high temperature resistance.

- Fine chemicals: Catalyst carrier, neutralizer for dyes/lubricating oils and curing accelerator for resins to enhance product stability and processability.

- Ceramics: Sintering additive for electronic ceramics, insulating components and magnetic materials to increase densification as well as insulating and thermal conductive performance.

- Mining and metallurgy: Mainly applied in six scenarios including nickel and cobalt precipitation in hydrometallurgy, mine backfilling solidification, mine wastewater treatment, acid mine water neutralization, green rare earth extraction, and dust and gas control; characterized by fast reaction speed, strong adsorption, low impurity content, environmental friendliness and safety.
